Discover more from Mind Stayed
Welcome again, readers, to the Mind Stayed series of metaphors. This week we are sharing a visual art piece. This piece, from Sara Oyela, is one she re-created from a college project. She says the following:
“One of my art professors assigned us the task of creating a piece that was art, but that didn’t look like art - something that was art, but something that audiences, when they saw it, wouldn’t know it was art.
I wonder if it was a standard assignment for this particular class? If someone historically has done the same thing I did for it?
Anyhow, the original arrow was painted red, which the professor took points off for because of my lack of thinking about the symbolism of the color red.
Eventually, I threw the original away (I think I did. At least, I haven’t found it around the house anywhere recently.). But, because the project was so meaningful to me, beyond the uniqueness of it within my own class, I knew I needed to re-create it as best as I could, for this series. For this piece, I definitely thought about one character in the Bible in particular.”
Check back here on Friday evening to test your knowledge of, and challenge yourself to dig into, the Bible. Also, find out what the artist thought of when she created this piece. Lastly, before Friday, you will have a chance to share your thoughts on the piece in the chat.
Thanks for reading and following along! We are excited you are here.
